Alex Matovu

Founder and Managing Director

“Sport is my life. Marathon Running, Trail Running, Ultimate Frisbee and Mountain biking are my key sports. Competing in several international Marathons, in New York, Munich, and Nairobi, inspired me and gave me good foundation to step up and start setting up great internationally accepted standards of organizing good sporting events.”

Activate Uganda limited started up as a hobby, organizing Lake Victoria Triathlon from 2006 to 2009. In 2009 we were asked to offer timekeeping services for the Source of the Nile Marathon, which enabled us to grow into a company in order to offer our professional services. The beginning of 2010 saw the start of Activate Uganda and we have been growing ever since with a team of highly trained sport enthusiasts.

The latest international event I participated in was the 50km race Solomon Hammer Trail, May 6th 2016 in Denmark. I was finished 21st out of 682; Clocked 6hrs 50min. Salomon Hammer is one of the toughest Trails Races in the world, but supper fun!

“Through my own personal experience, it wouldn’t be fair not to share it in Uganda! I look forward to bringing more professionally run sporting events to Uganda.”
